Completion

Before September, 2000 Diane Lonsway (while living in FL) designs the logo for the barn and gets approval from the folks on the farm. For two weeks before her flight she prints large templates to be used to cut the wood into all the shapes and ships them to the farm. |

The ten days it took Diane to complete the sign, spent
laying out templates, cutting wood and painting were helped tremendously
by the night shift that stayed late and without them the sign would be
not have been completed before she had to go back to FL. With Dave, Pat
and George cutting and painting their hearts out and Farmer Ron making
sure we were fed we had wonderful success! |

The workshop used to create all the parts of the sign. |

Ron, one of the few employees of the farm made sure all the materials needed for the sign were made available. |

At 6'6" this rooster has seen it's last day indoors. David of course is still allowed indoors! |

Gravel is brought in to strengthen the path behind the barn so a bucket truck can be brought in. |

While the path is being worked on, the lower part of the sign is installed using ladders. At 35' tall, the ladders were no match for the upper part of the barn. |

From across Mott Lake the 12' cow looks sooooo small. |

With the great help of Brian and his bucket truck the first template is ready to be taped to the barn. We worked many hours that day taping, hanging, screwing in the parts of the sign, laughing, all while the first annual Folk Fest at the Farm was going on. Many people stopped by to say what a wonderful job we were doing. |

But alas, even the bucket truck couldn't reach the far right of the barn so Brian with Diane holding the ladder (which was seated in the water!) finished off the last few letters as his son watched on. Three hours after completion, Diane was headed back to FL., having one of the best vacations she'd ever had! |

Taking a ride on the Genesee Belle Farmer Ron and Diane celebrate the completion of the barn. |

David waves as Diane takes pictures for the first time from the Belle. After the boat ride it was straight to the airport. |
